Q-Switched Yag Laser Treatment
What should I expect after my Q-Switched Ruby Laser and Q-Switched YAG Laser Treatment?
The treatment area will turn white in color immediately following your treatment and some swelling may occur. A small blister may form in some of the exposed areas in 24 to 48 hours after the treatment. You may experience some swelling and redness of the area surrounding the treatment site and it is possible that some scaling or crusting may occur following the procedure.
Please note: The lesion might temporarily return to its original color shortly after the procedure.
Care Following Tattoo Laser Treatment:
On the day following treatment, begin gently cleansing the area two times a day with hydrogen peroxide 3% followed by Polysporin or bacitracin ointment. If the area has increased redness and itching, discontinue the ointment and call the office. The objective of cleaning the wound is to keep the treated lesions moist, which aids in the healing process.
Care Following Laser Treatment of Pigmented Lesions:
On the day of the laser treatment, apply Polysporin or bacitracin ointment to the treated area two times a day and continue applying twice daily until the treatment site(s) are healed. If the area has increased redness and itching, discontinue use of the ointment and call the office.
May I be exposed to the sun after the procedure?
Direct exposure of sunlight must be avoided following Ruby and YAG laser therapy. If there is no crusting or blistering, a sunscreen of SPF-30 or higher should be applied to the treated are for two months following the laser treatment to avoid sun damage. Sunscreen is available at our Center.
How long must I wait before I am allowed to use make-up over the treatment area?
Make-up should not be used over the treated area until is has completely healed.
When should I return to have my treated area re-evaluated?
Please make a follow-up appointment within 3-6 weeks following the laser treatment. Should you have any questions or concerns prior to your follow-up visit, please feel free to call the office at 713-791-9966 and ask to speak with a nurse.
