Fraxel Laser Treatment

What will I look like after my laser treatment?
The treated area will be sunburn pink and there will be some swelling. The pinkish tone may last for 5 to 7 days. This is a sign that your skin is healing properly. Make-up may be applied immediately following the treatment to cover the redness. Swelling should be minimal and will resolve within 2 to 3 days.

May I wear make-up following the Fraxel treatment procedure?
Make-up may be worn immediately following the procedure. Particular care must be taken to avoid irritation of the skin while removing

May I be exposed to the sun following the procedure?
Direct exposure of sunlight should be avoided following the Fraxel laser treatment. A sunscreen of SPF-30 or higher should be applied to the treated area for two months following the treatment to avoid sun damage.

What should I do if the treated area begins to crust or blister?
The skin should then be treated gently with twice daily applications of Polysporin or Aquaphor ointment. If the area has increased redness and itching, discontinue the ointment and call the office. It is not necessary to wear a bandage. However, if a bandage is preferred, a telfa (non-adhesive) bandage should be used. It can be cut to size and secured with paper tape. The area may get wet while bathing, but swimming should be avoided for 1 week following the treatment.

When should I return to have my treated area re-evaluated?
Fraxel treatments are spaced 5 to 14 days apart, depending on the nature of your skin condition.
