Radiesse® is a dermal filler that contains calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel. It is effective for reduction of moderate to severe wrinkles and folds and lipoatrophy. Once injected, this product stimulates the production of collagen to replenish lost facial volume.
Radiesse® is injected in small amounts into the skin using a very fine needle. A topical anesthetic may be applied prior to treatment or a liquid anesthetic may be mixed with the product to minimize discomfort. Lidocaine, an anesthetic, may also be mixed with the product to minimize discomfort during injection.
The effects of Radiesse® may last twelve to eighteen months. You may experience minimal transient swelling, redness, and bruising following this procedure. Apply an ice pack or cold compress to the injection site after treatment to reduce swelling.
